My family has been blessed to visit the "coffee shop" for many years, witnessing its transformation into Village Cafe, a warm family restaurant. The owner George greets each guest with open arms, knowing everyone by name and treating them like family. As one of the main chefs, George's culinary expertise shines, and my 5-year-old daughter adores his eggs Benedict, which we eagerly anticipate on Sunday mornings. We cherish our breakfasts and quality time with the staff, who have become like family, especially Maria and George, who have been there for as long as we can remember.

Every time I look up breakfast spots, this place always pops up on my list, and I finally decided to check it out over the weekend. I ordered the chicken and waffles and the corned beef hash, which is made in-house. While I appreciate the effort behind the corned beef hash, it left a little to be desired, and I probably won't order it again. It came with a side of hashbrowns, toast, and scrambled eggs, but overall, it was just mid. However, the real star of the show was the CHICKEN & WAFFLES! OMG! I asked the waitress if she recommended this, and she insisted I get it, with a tip to make sure I eat the waffles while they were hot. When the dish arrived, the waffle was perfect--crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, I added just the right amount of butter and syrup. I was in heaven! The fried chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection, with a crispy exterior. I received four generous pieces of chicken. The chicken and waffles is definitely a MUST-HAVE. I will be going back! A few side notes: the restaurant is located inside a bowling alley, the decor is a bit dated. If you need to use the restroom, it's outside the restaurant area (in the bowling area.) There's ample parking since it shares a lot with the neighboring hotel. I also received fantastic service from Kelly--she was bubbly, friendly, and extremely helpful. She's a gem! If you see her, tell her I said hi!

Village Cafe is a simple, food mostly from scratch, restaurant. Not fancy, but delicious each time. Hubby looks forward to a simple cheeseburger and crinkle fries and I enjoy their salads with crisp greens, Persian cucumbers, olives and house dressing. When I have tried the lamb/beef gyro I have found it very yum! The soft pita and fresh tzatziki sauce is a real treat on "cheat day". I hope Village Cafe sees an increase in business now that Winnetka Bowl has closed their "snack bar". These are nice people, running a nice business. Come try VC today. Cheers! "CC"

I was truly surprised by the quality of food and service at this location. Combined with a bowling alley on the side, I expected cafeteria food. It does have a simple coffee shop feel but the food is definitely a step above in freshness and taste.

Prompt service. Freshly cooked food to order. It's a family friendly diner with an interesting menu selection. They are flexible with your choice of sides for your meal. They serve the BEST country. gravy. I'm not usually a fan of gravy. But I do love George's country gravy. The waffles are hot & crisp as they are made fresh to order. Breakfast is served all day. Maria takes great care of her customers & greets regular customers by name. They also serve a delicious meatloaf.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. Good people, good food and great service. Fair prices for what you get. Try the chicken noodle soup, it's delicious!! Maria is the best waitress there, although everyone is very nice. Great little bowling alley cafe! Oh yeah, ask for croutons!!

The restaurant is in the same location as the Best Western, Lane 33 bar and grill, and the bowling alley. Many locals eat here. It's more of a diner. It's the best place where I've eaten fried chicken and waffles. I must say I'm not such a big fan of eating waffles, but everyone else that have eaten here loves them. I prefer pancakes, and must say, you must try at least once. This is my spot when I'm craving pancakes. Always receive great service and a friendly smile.

This is one of my favorite San Fernando Valley hidden treasures... inside the Winnetka Bowl/Best Western Inn... you will find a cozy little diner. The food - I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I leave super happy. For me, the French toast is the BEST I've ever had, can't be beat. It's not dry, but it's not soggy either. I've had their healthy dishes--egg whites with veggies, so good... burgers are amazing. The staff are all on top of it, checking in, topping your drink off...food is turned around fast... love it.
